Beverley Robero"I am a keen (but not so good) photographer. I prefer to take pictures of small animals and creatures. I ‘photoshop’ them, manipulating the colour, design shape etc. Finally I print them onto calico using my inkjet printer, heavily machine quilt, then hand embellish them. I make journal quilts because I can only print A4 size pages. Although I know I could incorporate them into a large quilt, I prefer the ‘books’ I make. They are for looking at and its easier to page through a book. This is how I made the chongololo."

Glenda , I love this new blog! It's fantastic! thanks for the "How to" links. The Journal quilts are so lovely, so inspiring! Thank you for creating this blog!
ReplyDeletehi Glenda, your challenge sounds so exciting however I am a little lost as to where the fund raising comes in. What I gather is that we do these monthly "pages" and then what? I have reread the blog three times and maybe I am missing something. Would you mind explaining this to me? PennyB.
ReplyDeleteHi Penny,
ReplyDeleteLOL, it's actually part of the title.
The idea is to send the "layerings" to the 2015 Festival committee who will then post them on this website and keep them to be sold off at a Tombola at the 2015 Festival in Durban. We are hoping to get "layerings" from some of the top South African quilters so that when you do come to the Festival and buy a ticket for the tombola, you might be lucky enough to win one of those.
The money earned at the Tombola from the sale of these "layerings" will go toward defraying some of the costs of the Festival.
I have already made one but it's travelling as part of the collection at the moment and I haven't had the time to photograph and post it on the site.
